Notion lets you archive pages and databases instead of deleting them. If you need them again, they’re easy to recover. 🗄️

Archive lets you retire content without deleting it. Archive pages or databases when content is outdated or no longer useful, but you still want to preserve context, history, and links.

Archiving is different from deleting — archived pages are still accessible.

HC: Archive is in beta/subject to terms

Archive is currently in beta and subject to the terms of your agreement. Archive is only available for users on Business and Enterprise plans.

When you archive a page:

  • You will see a yellow Archived banner at the top of the page.

  • If you archive a parent page, all sub pages are archived automatically.

  • Pages will have an archive icon 🗄️ after their name.

  • If you archive content in databases, the content will be filtered out of the view.

    • Archived pages can be viewed by going to the database’s Settings View archived pages.

  • By default, Archived pages are hidden from Search.

    • To search for archived content, open Search, click on + Filter Content status → choose your preference.

Anyone with permission to edit a page can archive or unarchive it.

  1. In the top-right corner of the page, click •••.

  2. Select Archive.

  3. A yellow banner will appear at the top of the page. It will show your name and the date it was archived.

To unarchive a page, open the page, in banner at the top of the page click Unarchive.

  • Archive content when:

    • The content is no longer relevant but the information it contains may need to be referenced in the future

  • Delete content when:

    • The page is truly disposable (test pages, duplicates, etc.)

    • You want it removed from the workspace entirely

FAQs

Will archiving a page break links across the workspace?

No, existing links to archived pages will continue to work.

Can people still access archived content?

Yes. Archived pages can be accessed in Search, Library, and in database settings.

  • To search for archived content, open Search, click on + Filter → Content status → choose your preference.

Is there a central place I can see all archived content?

If your workspace is on the Enterprise plan, admins of the workspace can view archived content in Content search → View archive content. Otherwise archived content can be found in Search, Library, and in database’s settings.
